Trusting God sounds simple—until we cannot see what He is doing.

Trust Does Not Require Understanding

 

Proverbs tells us:

 

“Lean not on your own understanding.”

 

That does not mean Christians should stop thinking, planning, or seeking wisdom.

 

It means our understanding was never designed to become our ultimate foundation.

 

Sometimes we will understand what God is doing.

 

Sometimes we will not.

 

Faith says:

 

I may not understand this—but I know who God is.

 

Trusting the Character of God

 

Trust becomes much harder when we focus exclusively on circumstances.

 

Circumstances change.

 

God’s character does not.

 

He is faithful.

 

Good.

 

Wise.

 

Present.

 

Sovereign.

 

Loving.

 

Patient.

 

When we cannot trace what God is doing, we can return to what Scripture has already revealed about who He is.

 

Our confidence rests not in knowing the outcome but in knowing the One who holds it.

 

When We Want Control

 

Sometimes what we call worry is actually our attempt to control something we cannot control.

 

We replay conversations.

 

Predict outcomes.

 

Prepare for every possibility.

 

Ask endless “what if” questions.

 

But control can become an exhausting substitute for trust.

 

Surrender does not mean we stop being responsible.

 

It means recognizing where our responsibility ends and God’s sovereignty begins.

 

We do what is ours to do—and entrust the rest to Him.

 

Remember What God Has Already Done

 

Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly tells His people to remember.

 

Remember the deliverance.

 

Remember the provision.

 

Remember the answered prayer.

 

Remember the wilderness.

 

Remember His faithfulness.

 

Why?

 

Because remembering yesterday’s faithfulness strengthens today’s trust.

 

Sometimes faith grows when we stop staring exclusively at what has not happened yet and remember what God has already carried us through.

 

Trusting God’s Timing

 

Waiting can challenge trust because delay often feels like denial.

 

But Scripture repeatedly shows God working through seasons of waiting.

 

Abraham waited.

 

Joseph waited.

 

David waited.

 

Israel waited.

 

The disciples waited.

 

Waiting does not necessarily mean God has forgotten.

 

Sometimes the waiting season is part of the work God is doing.

 

Faith When You Cannot See

 

Second Corinthians 5:7 tells us:

 

“For we live by faith, not by sight.”

 

Faith does not mean ignoring reality.

 

It means visible circumstances are not the only reality we consider.

 

We see the problem.

 

But we also remember God.

 

We acknowledge uncertainty.

 

But we remember His promises.

 

We recognize what we cannot control.

 

Then we place it into the hands of the One who can.

 

Trust Is Often a Daily Decision

 

Trusting God is rarely a one-time decision.

 

Sometimes we surrender something in the morning and pick it back up by lunch.

 

So we return.

 

Again.

 

And again.

 

God, I trust You with this.

 

With the answer.

 

With the timing.

 

With the person.

 

With the opportunity.

 

With the outcome.

 

With what I understand.

 

And with what I do not.

 

Trust does not say:

 

“Everything will happen the way I want.”

 

Trust says:

 

“Whatever happens, God will still be God—and I will keep walking with Him.”
