Identity in Christ | Who God Says You Are | Sunday School Bible Lesson PDF
Who are you?
For many of us, the answer has been shaped by what we have experienced.
We define ourselves by our accomplishments, relationships, mistakes, disappointments, roles, appearance, or the opinions other people have expressed about us.
But Scripture gives believers a different foundation for identity.
Identity in Christ is a Scripture-centered Sunday School lesson designed to help believers understand who they are because they belong to Jesus Christ and learn how to live from that identity rather than from the labels they have carried.
When we place our faith in Christ, Scripture says something profound happens.
We become new creations.
We are forgiven.
We are adopted into God’s family.
We are redeemed.
We are chosen.
We are reconciled to God.
We are His workmanship.
We are no longer condemned.
And our identity is no longer determined by what we have done or what has been done to us.
Inside you’ll discover:
-
Scripture-centered teaching on identity in Christ
-
What happens to our identity when we place our faith in Jesus

Identity in Christ challenges us to recognize how easily temporary experiences can become permanent labels.
I failed becomes I am a failure.
I was rejected becomes I am unwanted.
I made a mistake becomes I am my mistake.
Someone hurt me becomes I will always be broken.
But God speaks a different word over those who belong to Christ.
Your failure is something that happened. It is not your identity.
Rejection is something you experienced. It does not determine your worth.
Your past is part of your story. It does not have authority to define your future.
In Christ, we receive an identity rooted in something far more secure than circumstances—the finished work of Jesus.
This does not mean we ignore our weaknesses or pretend our past never happened. Instead, we learn to interpret those experiences through the truth of who we have become in Christ.
When old labels return, we answer them with Scripture.
When shame says condemned, God says there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
When the past says unchanged, Scripture says new creation.
When rejection says unwanted, God says adopted.
When inadequacy says useless, Scripture says God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.
Understanding our identity changes the way we live.
We stop trying to earn what Christ has already given us and begin learning to live from the security of belonging to Him.
