Sometimes we know God is able.

 

The harder question is why He has not acted yet.

 

We pray for circumstances to change. We ask God to open the door, remove the difficulty, provide the answer, restore what has been broken, or bring an uncomfortable season to an end.

 

And sometimes His response is not what we expected.

Paul understood this tension.

 

He prayed repeatedly for his “thorn in the flesh” to be removed.

 

God could have removed it.

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

 

God did not give Paul the answer he requested.

 

He gave him the grace he needed.

God’s Timing and Sufficient Grace challenges an assumption many of us quietly carry:

 

If God loves me, He will remove what hurts.

 

But Scripture gives us a deeper picture.

 

Sometimes God removes the difficulty.

 

Sometimes He changes the circumstances.

 

Sometimes He opens the door immediately.

 

And sometimes He gives us grace to remain faithful while the circumstances remain unchanged.

 

That does not mean He has forgotten us.

 

Paul prayed three times.

 

God heard every prayer.

 

The answer simply looked different from the request.

 

There are seasons when we may find ourselves asking the same questions.

 

Why hasn't this changed?

 

Why am I still waiting?

 

Why hasn't the door opened?

 

Why hasn't God removed this?

 

Those are honest questions.

 

But perhaps another question belongs beside them:

 

What grace is God providing for me here?

 

Grace for today.

 

Strength for the next step.

 

Wisdom for the decision.

 

Peace in uncertainty.

 

Endurance for the waiting.

 

God does not always give us grace for the entire journey at once.

 

Often, He gives us what we need for the step we are taking now.

 

His timing teaches us trust.

 

Our weakness teaches us dependence.

 

And His sufficient grace reminds us that even when circumstances have not changed, God has not stopped providing.

 

Sometimes the testimony is:

 

God brought me out.

 

And sometimes the testimony is:

 

God kept me while I walked through.

 

Both reveal a faithful God.
