Before David ever stood before Goliath, God had been preparing him in places no one was watching.

David had faced the lion.

He had faced the bear.

He had learned to protect the sheep.

He had learned to trust God when there was no audience applauding his courage.

The battlefield revealed what the private season had already developed.

That changes how we understand the five smooth stones.

David did not walk toward the giant hoping that an ordinary stone would somehow become magical. He brought a skill God had already allowed him to develop and placed that preparation completely in God’s hands.

There is an important lesson here for us.

Sometimes we become so focused on what we do not have that we overlook what God has already placed in our hands.

Someone else’s armor may look impressive, but it was not what God had prepared David to use.

David fought from what God had already developed within him.

And when he stepped onto the battlefield, his declaration was clear:

“The battle is the LORD’S.”

Our giants may look different, but the truth remains the same.

Faith does not deny the size of the giant.

Faith remembers the greatness of God.
