faithful.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGod is holy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGod is merciful.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGod is sovereign.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGod is good.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur circumstances may change.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis character does not.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYadah redirects our attention from what is happening around us to the God who remains present within it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e“O Give Thanks Unto the LORD”\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Psalms repeatedly call God's people to give thanks to Him.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePsalm 107 begins:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e“O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNotice the reason for thanksgiving.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt begins with \u003cstrong\u003ewho God is\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe is good.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis mercy endures.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePraise becomes an intentional acknowledgment of God's character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003ePraise Remembers What God Has Done\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePsalm 107 repeatedly tells the story of people in trouble who cried to the Lord and experienced His deliverance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThen comes the response:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBiblical praise remembers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe look back.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRecognize God's faithfulness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd refuse to treat His goodness as ordinary.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eYadah and Thanksgiving\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThanksgiving is more than politeness toward God.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt trains the heart to recognize grace.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInstead of constantly asking:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e“What am I missing?”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThanksgiving asks:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e“Where important.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo acknowledge God truthfully also requires us to become truthful about ourselves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe acknowledge His holiness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis authority.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis righteousness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd when His truth exposes sin, we agree with Him rather than defending ourselves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePraise and confession meet in the same posture:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGod is right.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003ePraise When Life Hurts\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBiblical praise is not pretending everything is fine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Psalms contain grief, questions, fear, anger, sorrow, and praise—sometimes within the same prayer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe can acknowledge pain and still acknowledge God.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis hurts—and God is faithful.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eI do not understand—and God is wise.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eI am afraid—and God is with me.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eI am waiting—and God remains trustworthy.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePraise does not erase reality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt places reality beneath the greater truth of who God is.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003ePraise Changes Our Focus\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePraise does not manipulate God into changing our circumstances.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt changes where we are looking.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFear says:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLook at the problem.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePraise says:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLook at God.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDiscouragement says:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNothing is happening.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePraise remembers:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGod has been faithful before.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYadah intentionally brings God's character and works back into view.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eA Life That Acknowledges God\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYadah should not remain confined to a worship service.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe can acknowledge God in ordinary life.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen provision comes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen prayers are answered.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen strength arrives for a difficult day.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen Scripture speaks directly into our circumstances.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen grace carries us through something we thought would break us.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe stop.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRemember.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGive thanks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd give God the glory.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWhat Are You
